Prelesje (pronounced [pɾɛˈleːsjɛ]) is a small settlement near the village of Lučine in the Municipality of Gorenja Vas–Poljane in the Upper Carniola region of Slovenia.[2]
Name
[edit]The name Prelesje is a fused prepositional phrase that has lost case inflection: pre(d) 'before, in front of' + lesje 'woods', referring to its location relative to forested land. Prelesje was attested in older sources as Prilezzi in 1291 and Prilessi in 1500,[3] and the name was transcribed as Perleſsie on the Franciscan land survey of 1818–1828.[4]
